Example 5.12

Ivan Wyschnegradsky, Prelude No. 17, m. 1

Wyschnegradsky uses cycles of the interval of three scale-steps to generate chords. In this example, the opening chord is the result of a cycle that begins on the tonic, E-natural, and works its way downward through the scale in intervals of three scale-steps.
